The Venezuelan violinist and conductor, Elvis, has distinguished himself both for his interpretative ability and his commitment to the teaching of musical art. He began his career in the renowned educational program "El Sistema," conceived by educator and activist José Antonio Abreu. This program, focused on musical practice through symphony orchestras and choirs, has become a powerful catalyst for human development. This innovative project provided him with the unique opportunity to collaborate and learn from eminent musicians such as Gustavo Dudamel, Sung Kwak, Simon Rattle, and Claudio Abbado.
In 2008, Elvis won first prize in the chamber music competition in the Russian city of Votkinsk, Tchaikovsky's hometown. Elvis's interest in orchestral conducting led him to the most prominent stages in his native Venezuela, collaborating with the National Philharmonic Orchestra and the Aragua Symphony Orchestra, among other distinguished ensembles. During the 2014-2015 season, he served as assistant musical director at the Teresa Carreño Theater, exploring the worlds of opera and ballet in memorable productions such as Tosca, Madame Butterfly, and The Nutcracker. In 2016, Elvis expanded his musical horizons by moving to Istanbul, Turkey, to work as a string teacher at the Barış İçin Müzik Foundation (music for peace). His participation in international festivals, such as the Chamber Music Festival "Trame Sonore" in Mantua, Italy, the Istanbul Music Festival, and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, has solidified his presence on the international music scene.
Since 2018, Elvis has made Belgium his residence, where he completed his studies in violin performance and pedagogy at the ARTS² École supérieure des Arts, under the guidance of prominent violinists Anton Martynov and Elliot Lawson. Currently, he continues to refine his orchestral conducting skills with Nicolas Kruger at the Royal Conservatory of Mons.
Elvis serves as the Musical Director of the student orchestra (USSB) at the University of Mons, where he leads an innovative artistic and pedagogical project. This initiative focuses on the collective practice of music, involving students from diverse academic backgrounds. The orchestra presents a diverse concert program ranging from popular music genres to academic compositions, enhancing the musical experience for the university community in the city of Mons.
He teaches violin at ESAHR (Enseignement Secondaire Artistique à Horaire Réduit), fostering a dynamic class tailored to children, youth, and adults.
In his dedication to education, he teaches music appreciation classes in the DASPA program of the FWB (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles). In this context, he develops didactic tools for intermediate schooling, a period that can extend up to 2 years. During this time, students benefit from intensive education covering humanities, sciences, philosophy, and citizenship.
